Outside the New York Public Library two marble lions stand guard. They represent the two traits that all family business leaders need to develop: patience and fortitude.
The lions were first dedicated to the New York Public Library in 1911, but it wasn’t until two decades later, at the height of the Great Depression, that the city’s mayor dubbed the lions “Patience” and “Fortitude.”

Today, family business leaders can employ both qualities to guide the business through hardships and change. Learn how in “Patience and Fortitude.”
